COZA Rape Scandal: Nigerian Police Boss Orders Dakolo vs Fatoyinbo Case Transfered To Lagos

Must read

Nigeria’s inspector general of police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered that petitions from the senior pastor and founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Abuja, Biodun Fatoyinbo, and that by Timi Dakolo and his wife, Busola be merged and investigated at the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Femi Falana, a senior advocate of Nigeria and an attorney for the Dakolos, made the revelation during a telephone conversation with Punch on Monday, July 22, 2019.

According to the newspaper, Falana said that Mr. Adamu had assured that justice would be done in the matter.

While denying that the police authorities had refused to act on the Dakolos’ petition, the human rights lawyer said the case would be brought to Lagos because the family were the first to petition the police.

I Will Protect My Wife, Family – Timi Dakolo Vows

Timi Dakolo, a Nigerian singer, has on Saturday, July 20, 2019, vowed to stand his ground against intimidation by Biodun Fatoyinbo, the founder and senior pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA.

NAN reports that Mr. Dakolo made this vow in reaction to the invitation letter the  Nigeria Police Force, NPF, sent to him.

The Nigerian police had invited the Nigerian singer and his wife, Busola Dakolo, for questioning.

According to Frank Mba, the Nigeria Police spokesperson, the law enforcement agency is “investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Falsehood Mischief, and Threat to Life that” that Timi and Busola were mentioned.

The invitation letter to the couple which came from the office of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Special Tactical Squad shows that the Dakolos are to visit the Nigeria Police Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 for questioning.

Although the invitation letter which the singer shared on Instagram, only gave reasons for the invitation without mentioning those the couple leveled the falsehood on, a fact check shows that this may not be unconnected with the issue between Busola and  Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, the founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, whom she accused of raping her.

“This office is investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Falsehood Mischief and Threat to life that your name was mentioned,” the letter read.

“You are kindly requested to interview the undersigned officer on 23/07/2019 by 1000hrs for fact findings through DSP. Ibrahim Agu with telephone number 0803786191. Acknowledge receipt. Accept my warmest regards please,” it added.

Reacting to the letter in a post on social media network, Instagram, Dakolo wrote: “Our lawyers had told us to get ready for this letter. We have long been ready for your intimidation and dirtiness. For your Ilorin methods and underhand tactics.

“A pastor? Bribing investigating officials to delay summons? Paying dirty bloggers to fabricate things that cover the truth, going to the IG’s people under dark to force this case to be posted to Abuja? Now this an investigation in Abuja, when you haven’t answered to the rape case against you in Lagos? Rubbishing the legal and criminal system?

“And sending a busload of armed policemen and shady men lying in wait to intimidate my wife and children today, forcing their way into my home? Is that how the REAL police delivers a letter? This is best you can do? This is why all the hurting women and families haven’t come against you?

“You picked the wrong one and you picked the wrong time. Nigerians are more awake than you think.

“If it’s a fight you want, it’s a war you will get…your filthiness under the guise of Christianity I will expose. Every single thing.

“I will fight for my wife and my children -it’s the promise I made with my life and one I intend to keep.I will defend them from the unrelenting attack of a weak man who thinks he can use money and power to cover for all of his crimes.

“Like I said, we have since been ready. GIVE US THE FIRE, THEN WATCH ME WORK!”
