Daily Meditations: Buy The Truth And Sell It Not

Must read

Dag Hammarskjöld, a Lutheran Christian and former United Nations Secretary General once said “You cannot play with the animal in you without becoming wholly animal, play with falsehood without forfeiting your right to truth, play with cruelty without losing your sensitivity of mind. He who wants to keep his garden tidy does not reserve a plot for weeds.”

You see brethren, if you are not constantly renewing your mind with the Word of God on a daily basis, you are reserving a plot in your mind for weeds. “He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful”-Matthew13:22.

The cares of this world is the manufactured reality that the media serves us. Some may say that is not true, Jesus here is talking about material riches and wealth. But consider that if the media is not flashing adverts of the latest fashion, the latest cars, the latest gadget, how will the manufacturers of those products fill us up with desire to buy the things we don’t need such that our lives now revolves around looking for money to buy things that will cease to be fashionable the minutes we buy it? Using the same principle, if we are not constantly flashing the Word of God in our mind how can we “buy the truth, and sell it not”- Proverbs 12:23?
