Dakuku Peterside, Labaran Maku, Senator Adokwe, Head For Tribunal

Must read

The Rivers state Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Dakuku Peterside has expressed uttermost confidence in the Judiciary, believing that State Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja will reverse the victory given to Chief Nyesom Wike of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Governor-elect of Rivers State.

In Nasarawa state, the former Minister for Information and the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Labaran Maku, said he has put into motion, plans to challenge Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura’s victory at the Election Petitions Tribunal.

Peterside, in a statement issued on his behalf by his campaign outfit, the Greater Together Campaign Organization (GTCO) in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 said he concurred with the prayer of Wike, that in the case of the governorship election in the state, God would complete what He had begun.

The statement signed by the GTCO’s Director of Communications and Publicity, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, said, “Wike made reference to God during a celebratory feast organized by the PDP in Port Harcourt, after he was presented with the certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“We know that Wike’s claim to the governorship of Rivers State is built on a faulty foundation and so cannot stand. We consider Wike’s wishful prayer that God should complete what He had begun an aberration and an insult to good conscience. But for us, since we believe that God thrives on justice, Wike’s prayer will certainly add to the speedy recovery of the mandate robbed off Rivers people through the barrels of guns and pellets of bullets.

“Besides Wike’s immoral claims, we were appalled at the caliber of guests we sighted at that gathering. We saw suspected murderers, suspected kidnappers, ballot box snatchers and sundry criminals dancing on the graves of those they killed.

“While Wike and his cohorts celebrate, we suggest caution, as we hold a strong conviction that justice will prevail and the mandate he is parading will be retrieved.”

In Nasarawa State, Maku has accused INEC and security agents of masterminding his defeat through what he termed ‘grand conspiracy’ to ensure that he lost the election to his kinsman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Arc. Husseini Egyebola.

Also, Sen. Suleiman Adokwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Nasarawa South senatorial zone, on Wednesday made known his resolve to go to the tribunal in a statement made available to newsmen in Lafia.
