Stop Calling Boko Haram Terrorist Amina’s Husband – Chibok Community

Must read

Leaders of Chibok community from which the rescued schoolgirl, Amina Ali, hails from have disowned the man, that the Nigerian Army says is the “supposed husband” of the girl, saying their daughter was never married to a terrorist suspect.

Represented by Tsambido Hosea Abana, under the aegis of Kibaku Area Development Association (KADA) in Abuja, the community said though they welcome Amina from the terrorist den while awaiting others, it condemned the calling of the Boko Haram suspect, one Mohammed Hayatu, as Amina’s husband.

Abana, who is chairman of the community association in Abuja, spoke at a press conference organized by Bring Back Our Girls campaigners in Abuja on Thursday, May 19, 2016.

He said rather than calling Mohammed Amina’s husband, he should be called Boko haram sexual exploiter, insisting that Amina has no husband and whoever was rescued with her should not be called her husband for no justifiable reason.

The community leader noted that any discussion with the government should not be done in company of Mohammed as it has never gone into marriage union with him, hence he should be treated on his own until Amina is fully rehabilitated.

He called for a full scale investigation into Mohammed’s involvement in terrorism that resulted to the sexual exploitation of their daughter to pave way for a lawful prosecution of Mohammed Hayatu.

He also said that Hayatu should be treated on the result of investigation and should not be treated as an abductee, maintaining that even though he is an abductee, Amina was never given in marriage to him by anybody.

The community advocated for a home for Amina and all discussions concerning the girl and Mohammed should be made public for all Nigerians to see.
