Egypt To Compensate Families Of Football Violence Victims

NAN – The Egyptian government has agreed to pay 3,280 dollars as compensation to the families of fans who died outside an Egyptian soccer stadium on Sunday, February 8, 2015.

Health Ministry’s spokesman said on Tuesday. February 10, 2015 in Cairo that the final toll was 19 dead, but the public prosecutor’s office said there were 22 fatalities while Zamalek supporters group said they have 28 dead till now.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Football federation (EFA), which postponed all domestic matches indefinitely, said there would be another meeting after the three days of mourning with all parties concerned to discuss resuming football matches.

Mahmoud el-Shami Egyptian FA member board said the league should resume as soon as possible.

He said the league cannot be postponed for too long because four clubs would participate in African competitions and the Egypt national team would start playing in World Cup 2018 qualification next July.
