Must read

Former President Goodluck has begun redeeming his pledge to promote peace across the nation by starting form his home state.

Jonathan on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 set up a reconciliation committee to unite the warring factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

This move is towards ensuring that the party retains power in the forthcoming governorship elections polls in the State which comes up next year.

This was one of the resolutions reached at a reconciliation meeting convened by Jonathan at his country home, Otuoke in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The elders faulted the attitude of some persons close to the former President in Abuja having governorship aspirations of their own who were using their offices to undermine the State Governor and the PDP. He said  some of them have even built parallel governments to fight the State Governor and their own party, PDP.

The meeting, presided over by Mr. Jonathan, also constituted a three-man committee headed by former governor of the State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha to reconcile all aggrieved groups and individuals to ensure a united and a more cohesive PDP that will be strong and formidable in all ramifications, to face and subdue the opposition in the state.

The committee, which has also King A. J. Turner and Chief Thompson K. Okorotie as members, has two weeks within which to complete its assignment and submit a report to the larger house.

The committee however, advised all governorship aspirants under the platform of the PDP in the state to bury their ambitions and support Governor Dickson, while also calling for discipline, party loyalty and tolerance by all party members.
