Gombe Twin Bombing: SAD PHOTOS Of Victims Emerge Online, As 49 Confirmed Dead [GRAPHIC]

Forty-nine people have been confirmed dead as a result of the twin bomb blasts which was experienced in Gombe State on Thursday, July 16, 2015.

According to rescue workers,the first explosion happened outside a crowded footwear shop before the second went of minutes later when the area was crowded with Eid-el-fitri shoppers.

A local trader Badamasi Amin, enthused thus: “I was about 70 metres (yards) from the scene” when the first blast struck, he told AFP.

“I and many other people rushed to assist the victims. While we were trying to attend to the wounded, another blast happened outside a china shop just opposite the footwear shop.

“Several people were killed and many more were injured,” he added.

Another trader, Ali Nasiru posited thus: “Traders and shoppers helped in evacuating the victims to the hospital,” he said. “I can’t say how many people were affected but there are many.”

When contacted the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai, who only resumed office on Thursday, July 16, 2015 said: “I am just a few hours on the seat.”
