A gang of unknown gunmen had kidnapped a lecturer of the Delta State Polytechnic, who is also the Directorate of General Studies, Mr. Chike Ggemudu.
The assailants abducted the lecturer at his house located along NDC road, in the Ozoro community of the state on Friday, July 3, 2015.
Speaking to newsmen, a source from the institution who did not want his name on print said they are yet to establish contacts with the abductors.
The police spokesperson in the state, Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident stated that they were making efforts to see that the lecturer is released safely.
Condemning the kidnap, the Chairman of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, stated that th union was set to organize a a fasting and prayer session for his successful release from the abductors.
He said, “This is the second time a lecturer of this polytechnic has been kidnapped.”
