Osun State Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of August 9, 2014 governorship election.
The result was announced by the returning office of the Independent National Electorial Commission, (INEC) for the state, Professor Bamitale Omole. The incumbent, Aregbesola won a majority of votes with 394,684 votes (57.4%), over Senator Iyiola Omisore of the People’s Democratic Party who won 292,747 votes.
Professor Bamitale Omole is also Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
