The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Plateau State has warned people who do not have the Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs to steer clear from polling booths during the Saturday, April 11, 205 gubernatorial polls.
INEC maintained that only eligible voters with their PVCs would be allowed into polling units.
The commission made this stance known via a statement signed by the Head, Voter Education and Publicity, Osaretin Imahiyereobo.
According to Vanguard, INEC also assured that it had taken adequate measures to ensure that the card readers do not pose any challenge during the exercise.
Imahiyereobo said, “The Commission has reviewed the operation of the card readers in the March, 28th elections, identified the challenges and has taken adequate measures to address them.
“Card readers are to be deployed for the April, 11 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the State.”
Voting process will continue the following day if the card readers malfunctioned and cannot be replaced within a specific period, according to Imahiyereobo.
