Just In: Boko Haram Commander Killed In Borno

New reports from the ongoing anti-terrorism fight in Borno state say that a Boko Haram commander, Abu Imrana has been killed by Nigerian soldiers on Monday, June 15, 2020.

The past week over 150 civilians and soldiers have killed by the Islamist Jihadists in Monguno and Gubio local government areas in Borno in an exchange of gunfights with Nigerian soldiers in Borno state.

According to residents of from Goni Usmanti village in Nganzai, Boko Haram members shot dead 38 people and set a truck on fire with passengers inside.

Security sources and residents said at least 15 people, including nine soldiers, died in Monguno town, which is about 60km (37 miles) away.

Militants armed with heavy weapons including rocket launchers arrived in Monguno, a base for many international non-governmental organisations, on Saturday, June 13, 2020, overrunning government forces in the area.

More than 100,000 of Monguno’s residents are people who have been displaced from their homes by the 10-year conflict in the region.
