The speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Hassan Shalla was on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 impeached by the members of the House during a sitting presided over by a member Abubakar Sabo, who served as temporary speaker.
The impeachment motion was moved by Hon. Aminu Musa Gumbi from Yauri constituency and seconded by Hon. Aliyu Mohammed Mutubare.
12 out of 24 members of the House supported motion.
They subsequently elected Aminu Musa Habib Jega and Hon. Garba Bena as Speaker and deputy Speaker respectively.
According to a Leadership report, the members during their sitting, accused the impeached speaker of breach of trust and misappropriating constituency allowances approved by the governor for the 24 House members.
This is coming up barely 24 hours after the deputy governor of Ondo State, Ali Olanusi was impeached by the state House of Assembly on Monday, April 27, 2015.
