RIMI, Nigeria — Four people have been killed and several others injured after a lightning strike hit Kantar Uban Daba community in Rimi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, during heavy rainfall.
Three of the victims died on the spot, while the fourth succumbed to injuries on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Some of the injured were treated at Rimi General Hospital, with about five still receiving care as of Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Others had been discharged after earlier treatment.
The deceased were buried in accordance with Islamic rites, and sympathisers have been visiting the bereaved families since the tragedy.
Executive Chairman of Rimi LGA, Muhammad Ali, visited both the families of the deceased and the hospitalised victims, accompanied by his deputy, Nura Abdullahi, and other council officials.
Ali urged the families to accept the incident as an act of God and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, as well as divine protection against similar tragedies in the future.
