English premier league side, Liverpool FC is set to complete the signing of 17-year-old Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi as soon as he turns 18 on Wednesday, August 11, 2015.
The Flying Eagles and U-23 star is then expected to be loaned out to a Belgian or Dutch side.
Africanfootball.com reports that the Reds beat Monaco and Porto to the 17-year-old’s signature. The report has it that a loan appears to be the best option as it wouldn’t be possible to obtain a work permit for the Nigerian.
“It’s almost too late to apply for a work permit for him using the special talent clause because he has been with the U23 team.
“As such he will go on loan to a club either in Belgium or Holland in the first instance,” the statement further stated.
