Count Me Out: Liyel Imoke Says He Has No Interest In Replacing Mu’azu As PDP Chairman

Must read

Speaking to journalists at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar on his arrival on Friday, May 8, 2015, the current governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, debunked every rumour that lined him to be the man positioning himself to take over from the People’s Democratic Party now embattled chairman, Adamu Mu’azu.

The reports claimed that Senator Imoke has the support of his colleagues and other party members who are dissatisfied with Mu’azu’s leadership and have been clamouring for his resignation. Senator Imoke has, however, taken himself out of the contest for the ‘almost’ vacant seat.

He said: “Like every other person, I also read that in the media. Mind you, I have said at several fora that I will not run for any elective post.

“I do not know where that story originated from as I have never discussed it with anyone and I see it as a figment of the imagination of the writer.

“I am not interested in any public office. I have been in public lime light for too long and I need to step aside but will remain a strong party loyalist and supporter. I do not nurse any intention to run for any public office.”
