A man, Andre Brown, 26, had brutally stabbed his 54-year-old mother, Damita Collins to death on the night of Sunday, January 3, 2015 out of anger that she was always telling him that he needed to get a girlfriend.
Brown who is a graduate of Simeon Career Academy committed the crime in their home at 3500 block of West 77th Place in Ashburn, Chicago.
After charging him with first degree murder, the presiding judge of the court Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil, ordered that he be remanded in jail pending on when he meets his bail option of $1 Million.
According to Chicago Tribune, the Assistant State’s Attorney Jamie Santini, disclosed that the deceased had an argument with her son after her husband had prepared dinner on the fateful night.
Collins’ husband who happened to be Brown’s step father was said to have heard some loud noise upstairs and rushed to the scene which was Brown’s bedroom, only to discover that the door was locked.
The man was surprised to see his wife lying in the pool of her own blood when Brown finally opened the door.
The suspect reportedly fled the house in his late mother’s car while his stepfather attempted to chase him.
The police and paramedics confirmed Collins dead after their attention were called to the scene by her husband.
A check on her corpse revealed she had sustained a deep stab wound on the chest, a slash wound on the neck and a defensive wound on a thumb.
Moreover, the police arrested the suspect with blood stains on his clothes, shoes and cuts on his hands and face.
A knife with blood stains was also discovered in the family kitchen which the suspect confessed to have used in stabbing his mother.
