Military Orders Shut Down Of All Telecommunications Services In Borno

The Nigerian military on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 ordered a total shut down of all telecommunications services in Borno state as it intensifies offensive against Boko Haram.
The residents in the state woke up to a “No Service” signal on their mobile phones.

Confirming the shutdown, the spokesman of the 7-Division of the Nigeria Army, Muhammed Dole said its a military move necessary under the present circumstances.

Dole said: “The development is strategic in the renewed vigour by the military to tackle the terrorists effectively.”

“We all know the inconveniences that this might have brought, but it is a necessary and temporary measure that will not take long time”, he added .

He said its a sacrifice everyone including the residents have to make in the fight against Boko HaramR.
