Must read

While the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its preferred candidate for the post of House Majority leader, Femi Gbajabiamila are piling pressure on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara to accept their terms, Dogara seems to have gotten on the good side of a number of Gbajabiamila’s allies as indications have it that Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, an ally Gbajabiamila, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 availed that he is considering an offer from Dogara to make him the Majority Leader.

According to Punch, Ado-Doguwa enthused thus: “I consider this offer good if it is genuine; the Speaker has given the assurances that he is ready for peace to prevail in the House.

“This offer, to my mind, is a good gesture and we can work with it – given the assurances by the Speaker.

“I am just expressing my own view on this matter; that we have to accept this offer so that we can move ahead. I believe that the general opinion of Nigerians is that this crisis has dragged on for too long and we should end it and allow the government to move on.”

Meanwhile the spokesman for the Gbajabiamila group Nasiru Zango-Daura, insisted that they would not go against the wishes of the party.
It was also gathered that Dogara and Ado-Doguwa met twice last week.

An insider in the House, who spoke to Punch said: “There was a divide and rule strategy the Speaker adopted, knowing that the North-West has the highest number of 86 APC members in the House.

“He broke their ranks and with the pressure mounted on Ado-Doguwa, he began to weigh his options.”

Attempts to contact Gbajabiamila failed a he did not reply text messages sent to him.
