Senators decided during a meeting which held at the upper chamber of the National Assembly today Tuesday, March 18, 2014 to keep Abba Moro and John Parradang as the minister of interior and comptroller-general of Immigration respectively despite the fact that the two men presided over the shoddy handling of a routine recruitment process which led to the deaths of no fewer than 15 job seekers.

The senators roundly condemned the process during their remarks and expressed anger over the deaths, then they called for a minute silence and an investigation of the incident.

Abba Moro, the man in the eye of the storm is a is a political godson of the Senate President David Mark, voted to throw out a motion moved by Senator Babafemi Ojudu, an All Progressive People’s (APC) senator, representing Ekiti Central Senatorial district calling for the suspension of Moro and Parradang..

Senator Babafemi Ojudu who felt that this was not enough, rose up to propose an additional resolution, asking that the Minister and the Immigration boss be suspended pending the outcome of the proposed investigation into the matter. But his motion was followed by shouts of no by the PDP Senators.

The Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu who presided over the day’s affairs called for a vote over Ojudu’s resolution, and the voices of the majority PDP members drowned out those in support of the suspension.

The Ekiti senator had earlier demanded that the identity of those behind the consulting company that organized the aptitude test be revealed and the role of the Minister of Interior in it be made public.

At the end of the meeting the senate had directed that the Committee on Interior conducts a public investigation on the tragedy within a week and also asked the Federal Government to come out with a Marshal Plan about employment matters.

  1. If President Jonathan does not sack the Minister of Interior and the Comptroller Gen of Immigration, he is not a leader and does not care about the plight of Nigerians. I will lose any respect I had for him. Imagine innocent people going for a job assessment and get killed and nothing is done to the quacks that call themselves heads of immigration. It will be a tragedy if the president of this country cannot do anything about it. This is unheard of. What surprises me is that no one is even talking about the 2 billion Naira raised from jobless Nigerians.

  2. Must u play politics,in everything, someone should be hold responsible for the death of innocent Nigerians,we are sick of the politics played by PDP,they are doing us no good
