16 Job-Seekers Feared Dead In Immigration Test Stampede

About 16 persons have been reported dead in the recruitment exercise if the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) conducted across the country on Saturday, March 15, 2014.

Various centres recorded a high number of turn out by applicants, exceeding the capacity of the venue, which led to a stampede.

Eight people were feared dead during a stampede at the National Stadium Abuja, five lives were lost at the Liberation Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt, while three applicants were also feared dead in Minna.

About seventy were injured in Abuja alone.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed that seven people lost their lives.
