NSCDC Seizes Stolen Fuel Tanker In Oyo

Must read

OYO – The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 intercepted and seized a loaded 15,000-litre petrol tanker in the state.

According to Mr. Shem Obafaiye, the State’s NSCDC Commandant, the petrol had been scooped from a vandalised pipeline at Pere/Aroje area of Ogo-Oluwa council area of Oyo State

He reportedly said, “The interception of this truck was as a result of our intelligence gathering method. We got information that some vandals were about to take off after loading the truck with PMS. When they saw us, they disappeared into a nearby cattle ranch.

“From what we have noticed, the vandals have the support of the Fulani herdsmen in the area, who feed them with the position of our men in the area. They pretend to graze their cattle in the night when in actual fact what they are doing is to survey the position of our men and inform the pipeline vandals. When they see us, they will inform the vandals to run.”

Obafaiye, who expressed dismay at the attitude of the NNPC towards the fight against pipeline vandalism, also disclosed that the truck was intercepted before it was driven away around 2am.

The seized product would be handed over to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, he allegedly said.
