A painter suffered for two days because he was too embarrassed to call rescue workers when his private parts became stuck in a pipe, rescue workers in China said.
Lian Tien of Quanzhou City, told firefighters who arrived at the scene, that he was painting in the nude and slipped into the pipe.
The 61-year-old man managed to stick his private parts into a pipe used to carry water from an air conditioning unit. He stayed there two days, until he developed a fever and called a doctor, who suggested that he immediately alert the local fire department.
A doctor at the scene said that the man’s private parts had swollen and there was nothing left to do but to cut open the pipe. It took firefighters four hours to cut the pipe around the patient’s genitals.
“It was hot, so I was painting the wall in the nude. At one point, I slipped on the floor, causing my private parts to fall into the air condition pipe. I thought no one would believe me, and I tried everything I could think of to get the thing off of me. I cut the wall and tried to pour oil and liquid soap on the sides, but nothing helped,” Tien said.
“I went to sleep thinking that if I relaxed, it would slip out. It did not. Then it became red and inflamed. I was worried that I would get a terrible infection,” Tien added.
