Osun Election: Obanikoro Hails Governor Aregbesola, Omisore

Nigeria’s minister of state for defence, senator Musiliu Obanikoro has sent a congratulatory message to governor Rauf Aresgbesola and senator Iyiola Omisore over the peaceful conduct of the gubernatorial election in Osun state.

According to senator Obanikoro, the election has re-affirmed the strength of the will of democracy by their exemplary conduct i the Saturday, August 9, 2014 elections.

In a press release dated Sunday, August 10, 2014 Senator Obanikoro states that the citizens of Osun state has consolidated his hope in a violence-free democratic society beseeching citizens in all other states to followe suit as the country prepares for another bout of general elections come the first half of 2015.

He then goes ahead to congratulate governor Rauf Aregbesola for emerging victorious at the polls, saying that his victory is a re-affirmation that he is endeared to the people of the state.

Obanikoro also commends senator Omisore for giving governor Aregbesola a run for his money at the polls, adding that his mature demeanour and great sportmanship before and during the election is worthy of emulation, saying that history will be kind to his person.

Finally he salutes the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigerian military and other security agencies for ensuring social sanity while carrying out their duty in a professional manner. He adds that without the efforts of INEC and security forces, the elections might have not been devoid of violence and the credible results might have not seen the light of day.

In conclusion, he reserves glowing praise for President Goodluck Jonathan for his dedication to credible elections and sustained democracy in the country.
