A building housing a non-government organisation, belonging to a former first lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, has been demolished by the Federal Capital Development Authority.
The building, located in Mabushi District of the nation’s capital, is the office of the Women for Change and Development Initiative.
A lawyer to the former first lady, Emmanuel Anene, spoke to Channels TV at the scene of the demolition on Tuesday, January 16, 2017 saying that the destruction of the property was unjustified.
He said that his client had all relevant building approvals and had made same available to the authorities.
Anene, who added that the matter was in court, accused the FCDA of disregarding the rule of law and due process in carrying out the demolition.
