PDP Will Win The Forthcoming Election – Shagari

Must read

NAN – Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Muktar Shagari, on Monday, January 19, 2015 assured that the electorate in the state would massively vote for the Jonathan/Sambo ticket in February 14 presidential election.

Shagari gave the assurance during the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential campaign in Sokoto.

According to him, the people of Sokoto State will vote for President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure continuity of good governance in the country.

“Mr President, we will vote for you because you are doing all you can to bring peace to this country.

“Your detractors may not say the right thing, but it is true and we are happy that Nigerians are now beginning to see the truth, they know you are doing everything you can to sustain peace in this country.

“Just about three or four days ago, you were in Maiduguri to show the Nigerian people that you are ready and prepared to bring peace to Nigeria come February 14, and May 29 when you continue your administration.

“Mr President, let me say this: we will vote for you, we will work to make sure that you return as the president of this country so that you continue with the transformation agenda that we have today.”

Shagari dismissed the insinuation that he was planning to dump PDP for the opposition, saying that he would remain in PDP forever.

He commended the Federal Government for embarking on developmental projects in the state which, he said, included the construction of Sokoto-Kontagora road.

He also thanked the president for providing N250 million to the victims of fire incidents in the state.

Shagari stated that Nigerians were happy with Mr President and the PDP-led Federal Government for transforming the country.

Vice-President Namadi Sambo, who also addressed the mammoth crowed, narrated the achievements of the PDP-led Federal Government in the past four years.

He reassured that government was doing all it could to address the challenges of insecurity particularly in the North-East zone of the country.

Coordinator of the PDP Presidential campaign in the North West, Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, warned the opposition against use of religion or ethnicity to score cheap political goals.

He described those calling PDP names as ungrateful politicians “who benefited from the party, only to start condemning it.”
