Plateau Workers Go On Strike [SEE REASONS]

Must read

Plateau State civil servants Tuesday, May 5, 2015, stayed away from work in compliance with a strike action declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) chairman in the state, Jubril Bancir.

All government establishments were closed and the gates of the state secretariat were locked as the civil servants complied fully with the strike call.

The strike action was called after the ultimatum given by the workers to Governor Jonah Jang and the Plateau state government expired.

Jibrin Bancir, the state chairman of NLC gave the directive while briefing newsmen recently on the occasion of the 2015 Workers Day.

He told newsmen that labour had negotiated for a long time with the state government for the peaceful resolution of their dispute but without success.

According to Bancir, workers had several issues that had lingered over the past years in spite of their efforts to have them resolved.

He listed some of the issues to include outstanding arrears of minimum wage, non-payment of salaries and promotion of staff.
