The Police Service Commission, PSC has approved the promotion of 72 senior police officers after a plenary meeting.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Commission’s Head, Press and Public Relations, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, on Thursday, May 27, 2015.
The breakdown showed that 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to Commissioner of Police, while 20 Assistant Commissioners of Police were elevated to Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Others are five Chief Superintendents of Police to Assistant Commissioner of Police and one Superintendent of Police to Chief Superintendent of Police.
Additionally, 30 Deputy Superintendents of Police were elevated to Superintendent of Police, one Assistant Superintendent of Police to Deputy Superintendent of Police and one Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police.
According to the statement, the promotions take immediate effect.
