Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, the minister of health has been endorsed by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, PDP in Ebonyi State.

This was made known by Governor Martin Elechi who co-ordinated the meeting that finally approved Prof Chukwu as the consensus candidate of the party.

The thirteen hours  long meeting was held at the Government House in Ebonyi state and had all the party stakeholders on seat as the future of the state was unanimously entrusted in the hand of Professor Chukwu. The meeting provided the platform for all interest groupswhich includes party memebers, Ebonyi progressive youths and all concerned stakeholders to air their views and positions on the lingering governorship position which was zoned to Ebonyi south senatorial district.

According to the governor “zoning the governorship slot to the South was to compliment the immense contributions of late Dr. Akanu Ibiam in the state creation as he hailed from Unwana Afikpo LGA of the state”.

He added that Ebonyi State is a growing young state that should gather a unified momentum to ensure a progressive development and growth.

Contrary views from opposition are yet to be released but sourced hols that there might be an anti-totalitarian force that would contest with the party decision
