The Federal Road Safety Corp has called governments at local level to provide parks for tankers and trailers in their vicinity to aid easy flow of traffic.
The FRSC corp marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, made the call when he spoke to journalist. He said “The local government is a critical factor, it is the responsibility of the local governments to provide parks as per the constitution, the 774 LG authorities must be ready; it is another source of revenue for them.”
According to reports,the FRSC will begin re-training and issuing of special license to all NUPENG registered tanker driver in the federation.
He further stated that tanker without a speed limit device would not be allowed to operate within the country.
He also stated that four special license centers would be set-up in in Suleja, Kaduna, Warri and Lagos .
Mr. Oyeyemi stated that a joint task force comprising officials of the FRSC, NUPENG, Standard Organisation of Nigeria, Vehicle Inspection Officers, among others, to ensure compliance with its directive.
