A former Military Administrator of Kogi State, Bzigu Akakirya on Monday, June 22, 2015 passed away at the age of 66.
A family member of the deceased, Peter Lassa, confirmed that Akakirya died at a hospital in Abuja where he was receiving treatment for an ailment.
The deceased was born in Lassa village in the Askira Uba Local Government of Borno State on July 20, 1949 and was the Military Administrator of Kogi from 1996 to 1998.
He is survived by a wife and children.
Incumbent governor of the state, Idris Wada, in a condolence message, described Akakirya’s death as a sad one for the state and the entire country.
He also pointed out that the late statesman left indelible legacies within his two years of service as administrator of the state.
