Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

“Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.” – Acts 6:7

That’s great expansion right there! Not only was there increase in the church, the word of God spread and there were many conversions. That’s my greatest desire for 2018! Same thing can happen in your job and business if you believe. It’s our year of great expansion, and everyone who believes is a partaker of it. Amen.

But something preceded the expansion of the church, and that’s what I want us to see. Verse 5 & 6 of the same chapter, says, “And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.”

Before the expansion of the church, seven men were anointed by the apostles: that’s what resulted in the great expansion. Let me make it clearer. David said in Psalm 23:5, “You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.” You see? There’s an anointing for overflow (great expansion)!

I pray that the anointing for great expansion will come upon you, in the name of Jesus! Amen.
