“Put some of the first produce from each crop you harvest into a basket and bring it to the designated place of worship—the place the Lord your God chooses for his name to be honored.” Deuteronomy 26:2 NLT

Several times in the Bible, when honour is used, it refers to payment. In Acts 28:10, Paul was honoured with many gifts.

Jesus talked about honouring parents with gifts in Matthew 15:5-6.

In 1 Timothy 5:3, Paul asked that widows who are widows indeed, be honoured; that is, taken care of, or given to.

And in 1 Timothy 5:17, he said, “Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.” NLT says, “Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well, especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching.”

God said to them in Malachi 1, If I am Your Father, where is My honour? They wondered how? Then He talked about the kind of sacrifice they were giving to Him.

Begin to practice it. People complain about giving to pastors, but it’s honour! If God says to do it, then you should do it with joy! Honour your parents; the church should honour widows, and we should all honour God, our Father. You will be blessed as we do.
