Spirit And Life Devotional: Casting Out Demons

Must read

Mark 9:25 NKJV “When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!”

Every child of God is authorised to cast out demons in the name of Jesus Christ. Mark 16:17-18 says, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Demons are in people and in places, stealing, killing and destroying lives; ruining destinies; causing pain, causing confusion and chaos; deceiving men, distracting men, preventing the gospel, and leading men away from the Father. Our job as believers is to disallow the continued activities of Satan and his demons anywhere they are operating.

We’ve got to be sensitive and discerning: not all demons are violent. In Acts 16 we read of a girl with a spirit of divination who made much money for her master. For many days she followed Paul, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” She didn’t seem harmless but she was distracting people: Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. Hallelujah!

To do: Learn more about your authority in Christ; pray and fast from time to time.
