Spirit And Life Devotional: Being Happy In Jesus

Must read

1 Samuel 15:9 NKJV “But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.”

God, through Samuel, gave Saul clear and specific instructions: “Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’” But notice that the Bible says they were unwilling to utterly destroy every thing. In their own wisdom, they chose not to obey God’s instruction.

You know, understanding is essential for happiness in relationships; you don’t relate with people the same way, you’ve got to know what their interests are, likes and dislikes, and relate with them based on those things. Same for organizations, you can be happy in an organization and be unhappy in another because you don’t agree emotionally with their policies and culture.

No doubt, some Christians are happier than others; same God but different experiences. Brothers and sisters, to be happy in Jesus, you must learn to walk in complete obedience. Know what God wants you to do, and just do it – do them all. Isaiah 1:19 says, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” There are things that are acceptable, logical and okay to do, but if it’s not the will of God, ignore. You too can enjoy God’s very best, and never have a reason to complain again, just trust and obey.
