“For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things.” Acts 15:28
People serve and worship God in different ways; some in ignorance and misunderstanding. Over the years, men have foisted their ideas on others and compelled people to worship God based on their own personal preferences: therefore we have man-made religions in place of true Christianity.
Christianity is rest! It’s a relationship with God that should refresh you rather than oppress and torment you. Jesus once accused the Pharisees of making strict rules that are hard for people to obey, which they forced others to obey but they themselves didn’t try to follow any of those rules (Matthew 23:4). 1 John 5:3 says that God’s commands aren’t difficult.
If your own practice of Christianity isn’t giving you joy, you need to be sure of what you’re really doing. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30. Hallelujah!
