John Masterson, a social studies teacher, is credited with talking a 12-year-old suspect into putting down his firearm during a shooting at a middle school in Roswell, New Mexico.
New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez told reporters that the teacher had been facing away from the shooter. But, after shots were fired, the teacher turned to face the suspect and began talking him down.
