A 17-year-old Usman Abdu has reportedly committed suicide following his 12-year-old cousin’s refusal to give his marriage proposal an affirmative response.
His death has caused mourning to residents of Ganja in Gan-Juwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
In a statement by the state police public relations officer, Haruna Mohammad, the pedophilic love struck committed the act on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 9 pm by hanging himself on a tree with rope.
Mohammed said that the scene of the incident was visited by police detectives, led by the divisional police officer of Soro police division of the local government and the victim was photographed and rushed to Soro hospital where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.
He said: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim hanged himself when his cousin, a 12-year old girl of the same address rejected his marriage proposal.
“Exhibit recovered include the rope with which the victim hanged himself while the corpse has been released to his relatives for burial after post-mortem examinations.”
