Tijani Babangida Appointed As Special Assistant To Eagles Coach Sundey Oliseh

Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida has been named as special assistant and liaison to new coach, Sunday Oliseh.

Both Babangida and Oliseh played together at Ajax Amsterdam in Holland and have maintained a good relationship over the years. He played over 30 games for his national side, including four at the 1998 world cup in France. He participated in two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and won the 1996 Olympics with Nigeria. Babangida made his international debut in 1994.

The Eagles training camp in Abuja opens next week and Babangida is expected to join up with the squad, as they continue preparations for September’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Tanzania.

Babangida has experience in coaching, as he led Nigeria Premier League outfit, FC Taraba, to win promotion to the top flight for the first time ever two years ago.
