OSTRAVA, Czech Republic – Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, winning the women’s 100-metre hurdles at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava with a time of 12.45 seconds.

The world record holder pulled ahead decisively from the field, marking a clear return to top form as she builds towards the business end of the athletics season.

Slovakia’s Viktória Forster claimed second place in 12.74 seconds, while Ireland’s Sarah Lavin followed closely in third with 12.76 seconds.

Both athletes registered season-best performances.

Lavin, who hails from Limerick, improved her previous best of 12.90 by over a tenth of a second, reflecting her steady progress through the European outdoor season.

Amusan’s win in Ostrava signals growing momentum as she continues to sharpen her form ahead of upcoming global competitions.

The 27-year-old athlete, who set the world record of 12.12 seconds in 2022, has steadily returned to her elite rhythm after an uneven start to the year.

The Golden Spike meet is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series and serves as a key preparatory event for athletes targeting the World Championships and Olympic qualification.

Amusan’s performance in the Czech Republic stands as a timely reminder of her pedigree and intent in a tightly contested women’s hurdles field this season.
