Psquare’s Peter Okoye Announces New ‘Birthday Date’

LAGOS, Nigeria — Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has announced that he will now mark his birthday on November 30, ending the long-observed celebration of November 18.

The 44-year-old artiste disclosed the decision on Monday, April 20, 2026, in a post on the social media platform X, describing the change as a personal choice and informing fans and associates that it would take immediate effect.

“I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day,” Okoye wrote.

“My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding.”

He had earlier indicated the change in a separate post, stating, “I am officially changing my birthday date.”

Response to Reactions

Following the announcement, Okoye addressed reactions from the public in a subsequent post on Tuesday, emphasising that the decision should not attract controversy.

“Una dey vex like say I cancel Christmas? 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Na my birthday date I move… no be your own, why e dey pain you?” he wrote, adding, “Just for the record: Insult no dey reduce success. Who don make am, don make am! Know that and know peace.”

Career Background

Okoye, born on November 18, 1981, rose to prominence as one half of the music duo P-Square, alongside his twin brother Paul Okoye.

The pair achieved widespread recognition over more than a decade, releasing multiple albums and performing internationally.

The group experienced periods of separation and reunion, with differences attributed at various times to creative direction, management and personal dynamics, including the involvement of their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who managed the duo.

Both brothers have since continued independent careers. Paul Okoye performs under the name Rudeboy, while Peter Okoye, known professionally as Mr P, has remained active in music and other areas of entertainment.
