UPDATE: 3 Feared Dead As TB Joshua’s Church Building Collapses

NAN – Three persons were on Friday feared dead while about 15 others sustained injuries following the collapse of a seven-storey hostel accommodation at the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Ikotun, Lagos.

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South-West Zone, gave the figures while responding to questions from newsmen at the scene.

The the building collapsed at about 1.00p.m.

Rescue operations were being carried out by church officials, NEMA, the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA).

The police have yet to make a statement on the issue as at the time of this report.

A Corespondent at the scene reports that ambulances were seen taking people out of the collapse to the Isolo General Hospital.

It was gathered that the building which was located inside the church premises, was serving as a guest house to the visiting foreigner worshipers.

An eye witness who spoke on anonymity, said that the building collapse at about 1:30pm.

Also sighted at the scene are officials of the Lagos State Emergency Agency, Civil Defence Corp and men of the Nigeria Police providing security.

“This building was formerly a two storey building but it was converted to a five storey building without considering the danger,” the course said.

It would be noted the LASEMA officials were denied access into the premises of the collapse building, while journalist were also chased away from the scene of the incidence.

Also people who were trying to take pictures at the scene were harassed by members of the church.
