ISTANBUL, Turkey — Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has completed a permanent move to Galatasaray in a deal worth €75 million, setting a new Turkish transfer record, the club announced on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
The 26-year-old forward joins from Napoli after a prolific loan spell with the Turkish champions last season, where he scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances, helping the Istanbul club secure a domestic league and cup double.
Galatasaray confirmed the transfer in a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, unveiling Osimhen in club colours and describing him as a “marquee addition to our ambitions.”
Osimhen has signed a four-year contract and is set to earn €15 million per season, along with a €1 million loyalty bonus and €5 million in image rights.
Under the terms of the deal:
-
Galatasaray will pay €40 million upfront to Napoli.
-
The remaining €35 million will be paid over the next 12 months.
-
Napoli will receive 10 percent of the profit from any future sale of the striker.
-
A clause in the agreement prevents Osimhen from joining any Serie A club for the next two years.
The deal marks the conclusion of a drawn-out saga that saw Osimhen sidelined by Napoli amid failed transfer attempts and disputes with club management.
Once regarded as Napoli’s crown jewel after guiding them to a historic Serie A title in 2023, Osimhen’s relationship with the Italian club soured last season, leading to his loan move to Galatasaray.
His stellar performances in Turkey reignited interest from major clubs across Europe, but Galatasaray moved quickly to secure his signature permanently.
In its announcement, Galatasaray praised Osimhen’s impact during his loan stint and expressed confidence in his continued contribution.
“Victor Osimhen proved last season that he is not only a world-class striker but also a leader on and off the pitch. We are proud to welcome him permanently to the Galatasaray family.”
With his arrival, Galatasaray aims to make a deep run in European competitions while defending their domestic crown.
Osimhen is expected to join the squad immediately for their preseason training in Antalya, ahead of the Turkish Super Cup clash later this month.
