Buhari Urges Nigerians To Vote For People Who Promise To ‘Sustain His Legacies’

Must read

In his Christmas message, President Muhammadu Buhari urged Nigerians to vote for those who will maintain the momentum created by his administration as he promised to continue working towards leaving lasting legacies.

“Until my last day in office, I will continue to provide political and material support to sub-national governments, the Armed Forces, institutions, and individuals working wholeheartedly for the peace, unity, stability, and progress of Nigeria,” the president said.

“The advances we have made so far on the economic front, especially in infrastructure; food security, anti-corruption, security, energy sufficiency, among others, will need to be built on.”

He urged Nigerians to vote wisely.

“This joyous season has coincided with the period of campaigns to usher in a new administration.

“I urge you to be circumspect and vote for those that will maintain the momentum we have created for the greater good of the country.

“It is another opportunity to show the rest of the world that Nigeria is indeed ready to consolidate its democratic credentials as has been noted in international circles.

“Let the peace and joy that pervade this period continue well into the new year up to the elections in February and beyond.

“I want to assure Nigerians that those who violently seek to disrupt the peace of our nation have lost the battle.

“For me and my family, this year’s celebration is unique. It is my last as your elected President.

“Twenty-two weeks from now, this administration will hand over to another.”

He wish citizens joyous celebrations.

‘Emefiele Relying On Voodoo Economics’ – Obscure Pro-democracy Group Urges Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked to immediately sack the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, for “relying on voodoo economics”, by a relatively unknown pro-democracy group

Lately, Emefiele has been linked to fraud, diversion of government funds, and perpetuating unwholesome practices in Forex management in the country.

A pro-democracy group, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders in Nigeria, CACLN, said Emefiele must be removed from office.

CACLN made the call when they stormed the Presidential Villa to protest against Emefiele’s continuity as CBN governor.

The protest tagged ‘Emefiele Must Go’ witnessed a large turnout.

Addressing journalists during the protest, the Convener of the group, Dauda Yakubu, said Emefiele had desecrated the revered apex bank.

Yakubu lamented that Emefiele had made the country a laughing stock in the comity of nations.

He stressed that Emefiele was not fit to continue in office as CBN governor.

He said: “The Governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele, has not only desecrated the revered apex Bank in Nigeria but also made the country a laughing stock in the comity of nations.

“His penchant for voodoo economics is also legendary. The policy summersaults and inconsistencies in fiscal policies have indeed hurt the country’s economy in unimaginable ways.

“It remains a mystery how the Governor of the sensitive CBN of a country would engage in partisan politics by vying for the position of President expending billions of naira from the vaults of the Central Bank in his political ambition.”

The group said Emefiele introduced the naira redesign to cover up for some of his anomalies perpetuated in office.
