Pandemonium broke out recently in Oko-Ogbele community in Asaba, Delta State, after a woman identified as Rosemary (surname withheld), allegedly poured acid water on her husband’s lover and subsequently jumped into River Niger.
The second woman whose identity was not known was said to have been constantly visiting Rosemary’s husband .
It was learnt that Rosemary once threatened to deal with her if she refused to desist from visiting her husband.
According to City People News, the husband who is a renowned fisherman and a native of Bomadi Community, who settled in the Oko-Ogbele community, had threatened to marry another woman when the wife became unruly.
True to her threats, Rosemary reportedly laid an ambush for her husband’s lover and poured a substance believed to be acid on her face.
Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said the woman had jumped into the river after the attack while her husband was arrested.
Kalu further disclosed that the incident happened in the evening of Monday, January 19, 2015 at Oko-Ogbele Community by the River Niger bank.
According to her, the police were yet to recover Rosemary’s corpse while the woman she bathed with acid is currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed private hospital in Asaba .
