Even as reports of Synagogue church members chasing away security officials from the scene of the six-storey building collapse continue to spread in the media, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Saturday, September 13, 2014, said that 109 people trapped at the collapse building in Synagogue church have so far been rescued, while 16 dead bodies have been retrieved from the debris.

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Public Relations Officers of the agency confirmed this to The News Agency of Nigeria.

Friday, September 12, 2014, a six-storey building in the TB Joshua-led church collapsed with worshippers inside.

Many worshippers injured were rushed to Isolo and Alimosho General Hospital, while corpses were deposited at the mortuary.

Rescue efforts are still on-going as it is believed that people are still trapped in the rubble.

Farinloye said that members at first did not allow emergency rescue team to gain access to those trapped in the building untill later.

“The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and NEMA are still searching to make sure that those still trapped in the building are rescued.

“We are still searching for those trapped in the building so the figure may increase later,” Farinloye said.
