2 Fraudsters Bag 21 Year Jail Term In Kano

The duo of Mohammed Adam Mansur and Mohammed Auwal were on Tuesday , October 28, 2014 sentenced to twenty one years behind bars after Justice Fatu Riman of the Federal High Court in Kano State found them guilty of 3-count charges of conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence levied against them by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Both men were first arraigned by the anti-graft agency on Tuesdaym, July 9, 2014 for trying to defraud one Alhaji Auwal Ayagi, claiming to be staff of Visafone Communications Limited and wanted to buy land from Ayagi for N30 million, asking for a 10% commission from the complainant.

Both men had initially pleaded not guilty, although they changed their plea dramatically after one unnamed witness was called to testify, prompting prosecuting counsel, Idris Haruna to call for their conviction.

Justice Riman therefore  convicted the accused, sentencing them to twenty one years behind bars without an option of fine.
