SHOCKING: 6 Madonna University Students, One Lecturer Of Detained For 5 Months Over Facebook Post

No fewer than 200 parents of students on Madonna University have threatened to withdraw their wards over the continued detention of six students and one lecturer.

On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, the absence of Justice Babatunde Quadri of the Federal High Court 2 in Awka, Anambra state stalled the much-awaited release of six Madonna University students and their lecturer.

Six students of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra state and a lecturer were arrested and detained since February 2019 over an alleged opinion they posted on Facebook.

The post was about poor management in the institution.

The Court was filled to the brim on the adjourned date with human rights defenders, parents of the detained students and sympathisers in attendance.

But the Judge, it was gathered, would seat on Wednesday for continuation of the trial.

However, no fewer than 30 parents of the detained students had started meeting to discuss on how to withdraw their wards

One of the parents, Christopher Onyejekwe, told NAN in Awka, that the Institution was likely to lose over 200 students next semester.

Onyejekwe, said when the problem started, he went to the founder of the institution eleven times to beg him but all to no avail.

According to him: “It has become a fight to the finish. These children have suffered since February 11th in detention. Four of my children are in the Madonna University now”
