There are a number of great players that have played this sport and all still playing today. Here are some of the great players that have graced the NBA that are from Nigeria, Congo, and Sudan (in that order).

Hakeem Olajuwon

No list of Nigerian basketball players is complete without mentioning the great Hakeem Olajuwon. Hakeem was a member of the Houston Rockets team that won a number of championships in the 90s. One of the best centers to ever play the game, Hakeem rose to fame as the leader of the Rockets team. He is a very soft spoken and beloved figure in Texas and still makes his way to games on a regular basis. Hakeem was one of the trailblazers that brought Nigerian style basketball to the forefront.

Since he first started in the league nearly three years ago, Bismack has been thrilling audiences with his take no prisoners style of playing has garnered him a number of fans over the years. He originally started playing for the Sacramento Kings in 2011 and has only grown in both the talent that he has and the popularity he has attained. He is one of the best defensive players in the league and is sure to be one of the best players in the league for a number of years to come.

Another popular player that has many fans in the league even though he is not playing in the league right now is Luol Deng. A member of the Chicago Bulls for nearly a decade, Deng thrilled audiences with his skill and resiliency. During his prime, he was averaging around 16 points a game. One of the go-to players for the Bulls, Deng was a high scorer and great defensive player. If you love the Chicago Bulls, then you surely know who Deng is and are probably a fan.
