5 Ways Avocados Can Make You Prettier

Must read

Whenever we think about a “girls’ night,” there is a certain image that comes to mind. We tend to have visions of women clutching glasses of pinot grigio on the couch, toes prepping for pedicures, all while allowing a gooey green mask to harden on their face. Many ladies have a love of self-pampering, but too few know that there are things in their kitchen that they can use (and eat!) to get that natural, glamorous glow.

One of the most versatile ways to get a better look is none other than the avocado. This green superfood is meant for more than a few good bowls of guacamole. Avocados are packed with nutrients, with nearly 20 vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients, and include a high percentage of the daily value for many of them. Aside from giving us a ton of healthy, fortifying goods to keep us on the right dietary track, avocados can be eaten and used as a part of your daily routine to revitalize your look.

While the image of the woman with a green mask in her bathrobe is the most familiar way we are used to seeing avocados used for beauty, did you know that avocados can also improve your hair and nails? We can show you at least five different ways avocados can improve your look and do double-duty as a beauty agent.

1. Your Hair

For luscious, shiny tresses, a dab of avocado oil or a homemade avocado hair mask will do the trick. The nutrients and amino acids that are found in avocados are said to strengthen and revitalize hair to make it silky-smooth.

2. Your Skin

Whether you eat them or slather them on your face, avocados can have a huge impact on your skin. Because avocados are a good source of biotin, they have the power to prevent dry skin when you eat them. And when you wear them as a mask, your skin will be naturally hydrated.

3. Your Eyes

Eating avocados has the ability to help prevent eye disease because the food is loaded with carotenoids. But to keep those eyes looking pretty and less puffy, simply slice an avocado and rest the slices under your eyes for 15 minutes to hydrate the skin under your peepers.

4. Your Hands and Feet

The skin on your hands and feet is constantly being tested. Your feet are jammed up in shoes all winter and overexposed in the summer. And your hands’ only respite from the cold weather are knitted gloves. This exposure to the elements can result in pretty dry skin. Avocados can be used to create an exfoliating scrub for both hands and feet that not only hydrates but also wipes away that gruffness the weather can leave on them.

5. Your Nails

To reap the benefits of avocados for your nails, you have to use avocados the old-fashioned way. Impress your manicurist by noshing on avocados regularly. Eating foods that are full of “good” fat can help provide a hormonal balance that can positively impact our looks, especially for older women. It just so happens that avocados are rich in good fat, nutrients, and proteins that can help restore brittle nails.
