Oluwole Oloyede, a 56-year old man is currently cooling his heels in police custody in Akure, the Ondo State capital after he was alleged to have beat his wife, Morayo to death during a heated altercation.
Vanguard reports that Oloyede beat his wife to a coma as attempts by neighbours to stop the fighting proved abortive as the suspect reportedly told them not to poke-nose as he was the “owner of his wife and was out to discipline her and teach her some manners.”
The pair were said to have fought for over half an hour, using dangerous weapons on each other, locking themselves in to continue the fight.
Neighbours finally forced the door open only to find Morayo on the floor bleeding profusely, after which she was rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, where she finally gave up the ghost.
Ondo State police spokesman, Wole Ogodo,confirmed the incident, saying the suspect would be charged to court for murder pending the conclusion of investigations.
